Academic Program

Daily Tutorials and Small Classes Guarantee Individual Attention For Every Student.

Each student has six academic classes daily:

• Two tutorials make up the core of Eagle Hill-Southport’s academic program.  The goal is to develop skills in reading, including decoding, comprehension, vocabulary and oral expression.
• Each student also has classes in literature and writing, covering comprehension, composition and spelling.
• The final two classes are in mathematics and social studies/ science, the latter stressing study skills and notetaking.   
  

Because of the complex nature of children with learning disabilities, Eagle Hill-Southport believes they progress faster in small groups, allowing the teacher effectively to conduct ongoing diagnosis and provide individual attention and support.  The flexible curriculum is both relevant and challenging.  It provides each child with a program of total language immersion designed to ensure successful achievement.
