Summer Program - 2012
Study Skills Worshop
Dates: July 16-July 27
Age Range: 12-14
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 10:30 am
Tuition: 2-week session $600.00
In order to be successful, today’s students must sort through vast amounts of diverse information, organize it, and recite it at a later date. On top of this, they are involved in many social and athletic activities. This demands an enormous amount of multi-tasking and can be overwhelming to many.
Emphasizing how to learn, not what to learn, this workshop is designed for students to analyze their learning styles and responsibilities, identify what is required for them to learn and manage their time accordingly, as well as develop and follow through with plans to complete all their assignments.
During this workshop, each student will…
- gain a better understanding of themselves as a learner
- explore a variety of organizational and time management skills to better track and attack assignments
- apply active reading strategies to maximize comprehension and long-term retention
- practice a variety of study techniques to better prepare for tests and quizzes
- take part in lessons and practice concrete strategies in critical areas of independent learning that are often overlooked in the traditional classroom
