Writing is no longer the sole domain of the English class. Although it is paramount for today’s student to be successful in all disciplines, the fundamentals of writing are often overlooked.
In this intensive two-week course students build a solid foundation of writing skills necessary in all disciplines. Students receive instruction in narrowing possible topics and developing a thesis, organizing support and details, transferring ideas on to the page, and proofreading and editing for clarity. Ample practice and direct one-on-one support are provided in all areas throughout the workshop. In addition, basic writing conventions are covered to enhance each student’s ability to write clearly and concisely. During this workshop, each student will…
- critically analyze and identify the key elements of a variety of effective essays
- learn and utilize methods to efficiently organize and focus topic and detail ideas
- acquire a systematic and strategic framework that can be applied to any written assignment
- learn and practice proofreading and editing techniques to enhance the content and clarity of compositions
- develop positive writing habits to enhance success in every academic class
